History of an aristocratic hotel

Our History
For over 100 years, we’ve been supporting our guests’ journey towards self-improvement.
Palace Merano, the brainchild of builder Peter Delugan, opened its doors. In just 18 months, Delugan created a luxury hotel designed to meet the needs of Europe’s aristocracy. It quickly attracted renowned guests such as Franz Kafka, Thomas Mann and Zinédine Zidane, who appreciated its elegance and refined hospitality.

A major renovation modernised the spaces while preserving the hotel’s historical elegance.

Palace Merano became the destination of choice for international personalities and celebrities, including politicians, actors, musicians, and athletes, drawn by its exclusivity and exceptional services. Notable guests include Pavarotti, Maradona, Krizia, and Zinédine Zidane.

Our team of specialized doctors recognized the extraordinary benefits of the Detox approach and developed a personalised method tailored to each guest’s specific needs. The creation of the Energy Technical and Hydrotherapy Departments ensured a more comprehensive approach to health and well-being. Palace Merano became Italy’s first Medical Spa.

Bolzano entrepreneur Pietro Tosolini acquired the property and launched an extensive renovation in collaboration with French architect Michel Jouannet, redesigning the 99 rooms and suites, common areas, pool, fitness area, and spa.

Palace Merano shifted its focus exclusively to health and regeneration programmes, moving away from traditional hotel sojourns. Every experience was designed to rebalance body and mind, offering a personalised wellness journey.

The new Revital® medical center was inaugurated, featuring an in-house analysis laboratory.

After a decade of success, our Detox Method evolved and developed into the Revital® Method, delivering an even more personalised and innovative experience.

Two new rooftop suites were added to the castle, providing guests with an even more luxurious and comfortable stay.

The Revital® center underwent renovation. With 6,000 m² and 32 private treatment rooms, the spa was enriched by the addition of the Relax & Balance Department.

Palace Merano continues to evolve: the spa and saunas are modernized, and the Relax & Balance Department expands with new spaces. The new Sport & Recovery Lab, Regenerative Medical Aesthetics, and Biological Analysis Laboratory are introduced. A panoramic suite is built in collaboration with French architect Michel Jouannet, while both restaurants undergo elegant renovations.
