Founded in 1986 to celebrate the city’s 150th anniversary, the Merano Music Weeks quickly gained international acclaim for their high artistic standards. The festival offers a diverse lineup of concerts, ranging from classical music to pop, folk, rock, and choral performances, with a repertoire spanning four centuries. With over 400 concerts and 250,000 spectators in three decades, the Merano Music Weeks are a must-attend event for music lovers.

Since 1935, the Maia Racecourse in Merano has hosted the region’s most prestigious horse race: the Merano Grand Prix. The highlight of the event is the 5,000-meter steeplechase, where competitors from around the world race in one of the most beautiful racetracks in Northern Italy.
