The Gilf Promenade, which runs along both sides of the Passirio River, is one of the most picturesque walks in Merano. With its rich subtropical vegetation, it offers a romantic and cultural experience, enhanced by the verses of modern and contemporary poets engraved on elegant benches along the way.

Protected from the wind and always sunny, the Winter Promenade stretches along the right bank of the Passirio River, from Ponte della Posta to the Roman Bridge. When Merano’s summer heat becomes intense, the Sommer Promenade offers a cool refuge. A particularly enchanting stretch extends from the Elisabeth Park to the easternmost area, offering a refreshing retreat during the warm summer months.

The Passirio Riverside Promenade runs alongside the river, passing by the majestic Kurhaus ‒ one of Merano’s most fascinating Liberty-style buildings.
Lined with manicured flower beds and palm trees, this path, which dates back to the 1800s, offers a tranquil atmosphere, revealing the city’s charm step by step.

The Val Venosta railway line, connecting Merano to Malles (60 km), is a paradise for cyclists, with marked routes winding through meadows and orchards. If you prefer a shorter ride, you can return your bicycle at one of six stations along the route and travel back by train using a Bikemobil Card.
